Bernie Bannon was a Fire Officer and Senior Commander in the
British Fire Service for thirty years. He has had practical experience
of Incident Command in the Petrochemical and Shipping Industry
involving fire, explosion and vapour cloud release.
Bernie has developed and presented training courses for the Petrochemical
industry, both on and offshore, on behalf of the Fire Service
College were he was Course Director for a period of three years.
Experience in the oil and gas industry has involved working in
the United Kingdom and Norway and more recently in Azerbaijan
and Algeria.
Bernie has addressed industry conferences in North America and
Europe on the subject of Emergency Response and The Management
of Emergencies.
For the final two years of his public service Bernie was the
Emergency Planning Manager for Merseyside Fire and Civil Defence
Authority and was responsible for the development of Civil Emergency
Planning for the County of Merseyside including COMAH top tier
sites and implementing Pipeline Regulations. In this field he
presented seminars at the Emergency Planning College, Easingwold.
New Emergency Plans prepared and existing plans audited and amended
to ensure compliance with current regulations.
